2025 ORDERING INFORMATION
Every variety for sale in the shop is selected for its uniqueness, quality, and marketability. Each year, we grow and sell tens of thousands of dahlia stems for our CSA shares, farmers' markets, and florist sales.
All tubers were grown here on our farm in Massachusetts. They are sold as single tubers - not in clumps as one would receive when ordering Dutch planting stock. Tuber size varies depending on variety, but we guarantee that all dahlia tubers purchased from us will have at least one eye (which may or may not be visible at time of shipment) and are true to name.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE!
Items in your cart are not confirmed until checkout is fully complete and you have received an order confirmation email. If you notice items disappear from your cart or changed to “Unavailable” during the checkout process, it is because someone else checked out and paid for the item(s) before you. This is an issue which is beyond our control and dictated by our web platform. When ordering please keep in mind that even though the tubers are in your shopping cart, they are not “yours” until the entire checkout process is complete.
Due to the administrative time and costs, we do not offer shipping refunds for multiple orders even though they may be shipped to the same address. We will try our best to combine orders to the same address to cut down on unnecessary packaging and lessen our environmental impact. Any revisions to your pickup/shipping selection after checkout will incur a $15 administrative change fee so please take your time, double check your address, and select the appropriate delivery option before you place your order. Once an order is placed, we cannot add or subtract items. If you would like to subtract items, you may contact us to cancel your original order and you may place a new order. In this case, please note that tubers will be automatically added back into the general public inventory upon cancellation and will not be saved.
IMPORTANT: Our checkout system automatically selects the cheapest “Delivery Method” AFTER you input your shipping address (sorry, this is out of our control). Please check twice that you have the correct delivery method chosen after you type in your address as many of our customers have had their selection of “Shipping” changed to “Farm Pickup” without them noticing. If you’re using Apple Pay please scroll down to the bottom of your screen and select your preferred shipping “Method” before confirming your payment.
Farm Pickup:
We love having visitors come to the farm, and we strongly encourage you to pick this option if you are local. There will be TWO weekends available for farm pickup for local orders: May 17/18 and May 24/25, 2025. Our tuber pickup coincides with our yearly plant sale and you’ll have the opportunity to pick up more dahlia tubers as well as our favorite summer annuals and perennials. While May is still many months away, only choose the farm pickup option if you can commit now to pick up on either of these two weekends.
The “Farm Pickup” option will include a $10 deposit that will be refunded when your order is picked up. If your schedule changes over the next few months and you are no longer able to pick up your order, the $10 deposit will be used to cover the cost of shipping your order (if your order is large and additional shipping funds are needed, we will send an invoice). Even though we are including this failsafe, please try to only choose Farm Pickup if you are able to commit to the pickup weekends in May.
NOTE: “Farm Pickup” option will only be listed at checkout if your shipping address is in New England (CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, VT). If you live outside of these states and would like to pick up at the farm, please proceed with your order as normal and send us a follow up email with your order number. We will make note of your change in our account.
Standard Shipping Schedule
Orders will ship by region, in the order they are received, and as weather allows. We will start shipping to growers in warmer climates such as Southern California/Texas/Florida in mid/late March, followed by southern states in early-April, PNW and mid-Atlantic states in mid-April, Southern New England and Midwest in late-April/early May. Northern Plains/Great Lakes/Northern New England will ship as weather allows in late April/May. All local Massachusetts orders will begin shipping the last week of April / first week of May. All orders placed in April will be processed/shipped after we finish our main orders. Please note: these shipping dates are a guide and will be weather dependent. If it is possible for us to ship earlier, we will try our best. We are a small team that also runs a flower farm; please be patient as we work hard to get all orders out on time.
Please note any revisions to your pickup/shipping selection after checkout will incur a $15 administrative change fee, so please read options carefully at checkout. We are not responsible for orders that are shipped to an incorrect address or orders returned to us as a result of an incorrect mailing address. Additional postage will be required for orders returned to us with incorrect mailing addresses. A 25% restocking fee will be charged for cancelled orders.
Early Shipping
If you want your tubers sooner than the anticipated shipping schedule above, please add the “Early Shipping” product to your order/cart to indicate the week in which you would like your order to be shipped. We will ship in an insulated box with heat packs to protect your tubers from freezing in transit. Note: While we pack and make every effort to ensure tubers are well insulated and safe during transit, we cannot guarantee safe passage of your tubers if shipped outside the standard shipping schedule as indicated above.
Shipping Costs - US
Shipping costs are calculated based on weight and distance from our farm (zip code 01568).
Approximate shipping costs are as follows:
up to 8 tubers: $9 - $12
15 tubers: $9.50 - $14
20 tubers: $10 - $18
30 tubers: $11 - $20
40 tubers: 12 - $23
50 tubers: $14 local, up to $25
100+ tubers: $16 local, up to $45
International Shipping to Canada
We can ship internationally to Canadian addresses. There is a $55 fee ($40 Phytosanitary Fee + $15 Administrative Fee) for all Canadian orders regardless of the number of tubers ordered. Shipping charges will be invoiced separately depending on the shipping weight of your order. Continue reading below about estimated shipping costs to Canada. Because of USDA inspection requirements, all Canadian orders must be received by 2/15/2025 so we can prepare orders for export. In our experience, the transit/customs clearing time for Canadian orders is at least a week. The earliest Canadian orders will ship is on 3/1/2025, with many shipping later in April after the danger of frost.
Shipping Costs - Canada
All Canadian orders will ship in insulated shipping boxes with heat packs via FedEx or UPS and shipping costs will be invoiced separately based on your order. To give you an idea, tuber shipping will cost at least ~$35 to Toronto and ~$47 to Alberta. Customers are responsible for paying any GST/HST/duties for import. We will work with you to provide the most economical and safe shipping option.
Tuber orders with other items
All non-tuber items (i.e. apparel/books/fertilizer) will ship together with your tuber order. If you would like your non-tuber item earlier, please place a separate order.
Order Confirmations
Please make sure you enter the correct mailing address AND email address at checkout. You will receive an automated email confirmation once your order is placed as well as an automated shipping notification with tracking information once your order(s) is shipped. Check your junk mail/SPAM/Gmail Promotions tab before emailing us for a missing confirmation email.
What should I do when I receive my tubers?
When you receive our tubers, open your package and inspect your tubers immediately. Please report any tuber quality claims within 48 hours of receipt using this form. Our tubers are held in 40* temperatures so your tuber eye may still be dormant and not have a sprout when your package arrives. All tubers are inspected multiple times to ensure viability. We are not responsible for tubers drying out, rotting in post-shipment storage, improper planting, weather issues or poor customer care. All shipments receive a postcard with growing instructions. If your tubers fail to eye up within 6 weeks of planting, please do not throw away the tuber. Fivefork Farms cannot be held responsible for tubers rotting after planting. Replacement tubers will be sent out as inventory allows until July 1, 2025. If replacement tubers of the same variety are not available, we will provide you with a similar variety/color or credit towards future tuber purchases. All tuber issues must be reported by September 1, 2025. We cannot honor tuber replacements or refunds after September 1. Our replacement policy is limited to the purchase price of the tubers only; shipping costs are nonrefundable. We will not issue any replacements or refunds without proper photo documentation.
Thank you for your support. Happy shopping!
